Mission Statement

The Goal of Xavier House – Ignatian Spirituality Centre

With the help of God and in fidelity to our Catholic and Ignatian heritage, we at Xavier House seek to provide a physical environment and the hospitality of a faith community that enables people to grow into a deeper and more intimate love of God and God’s people.  We hope that those who come to us will, as they grow in self-knowledge, be able to choose what is most conducive to this love, and acquire a heightened sense of mission to be Christ-bearers for His greater glory, especially to those they encounter in the concrete situation of their daily lives.

Specific Objectives

• To provide a warm and hospitable physical setting that allows those who visit us to find rest and the silence necessary for contemplative prayer.
• To offer spiritual accompaniment in the Ignatian tradition to those who request it, and to welcome collaborators to offer their individual charisms to our endeavour.
• To offer a varied range of group programmes whose ultimate purpose is to help people to get closer to God.
• To serve as a training centre for those whose charism is spiritual accompaniment in the Ignatian tradition.
• To promote the praying of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola in their varied forms, in parishes and spirituality centres.
• To communicate with the church in Mainland China, and be supportive to them in helping to provide spiritual formation.
